Elm Pet Foods Recalls Dry Dog Food – Elevated Vitamin D Risk

Elm Pet Foods, Inc. has voluntarily recalled select Elm Chicken and Chickpea Recipe dog food products due to potentially elevated levels of vitamin D.

Dogs that have ingested too much vitamin D may exhibit symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss. Vitamin D when consumed at very high levels can lead to serious health issues in dogs including renal dysfunction. Consumers with dogs that have eaten a recalled product and are exhibiting symptoms should contact their veterinarian.

Consumers should immediately stop feeding the products listed below, which were distributed in Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. All bags in the recall are yellow with the Elm Pet Foods tag and a silhouette of a chicken on the front of the bag. The affected products have the following UPCs and best-by date codes:
