The National Animal Supplement Council is a nonprofit trade organization dedicated to protecting and enhancing the health of companion animals and horses throughout the United States. Founded in 2001, NASC is an all-industry association of stakeholders concerned with the issues surrounding the supply of health supplements for animals not intended for human consumption, such as dogs, cats and horses. NASC members include manufacturers of the finest animal health supplements, who are committed to the highest standards of quality and safety in the industry today, as well as raw materials suppliers, distributors, veterinarians, retailers, pet professionals, and animal friends.
Our Mission is simple: To promote the health and well-being of non human food chain animals that are given animal health supplements, by establishing federal and state regulations that are fair, reasonable, responsible and nationally consistent.
The cornerstone of the NASC members’ pledge is compliance with the NASC Quality System requirements. This program provides a framework of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for quality assurance and product safety, and a commitment to ongoing research and development that stands alone in the industry.
NASC members who actually supply products may use the NASC Seal of Quality on their product labels, websites, product literature and advertising, provided they meet specific criteria ensuring they are in compliance with our strict policies and standards. The Seal of Quality is a way for consumers to know the product they are buying comes from a reputable manufacturer that voluntarily complies with standards set forth by NASC. Buying from NASC members is the best way consumers can support efforts to improve the quality of animal health supplements and preserve the life and availability of these products in both U.S. and international markets.
On behalf of NASC members and our mission, we thank you for supporting our collective efforts. After all, at the end of the day, the animals themselves benefit most.
