Supercan Bulk of Miami, Florida, is recalling one (1) lot of Supercan Pig Ear Slivers – Thick Cut Piggy Ear Slices pet treats in 500-piece bags, 15.9 oz, with expiration date 11/09/2026, due to potential Salmonella contamination. Salmonella can affect animals that eat the products, and there is a risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products.
The recalled Supercan Pig Ear Slivers pet treats were distributed to a North 40 store located in Washington State between April 11, 2024. The product comes in 15.9 oz bags with the expiration date 11/09/2026 marked on the back side of the product.
Pets with Salmonella infections may exhibit lethargy and experience diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may experience only a decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain.
Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, please contact your veterinarian.
Healthy individuals infected with Salmonella should monitor themselves for symptoms, including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever.
Rarely, Salmonella can result in more serious ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms. Consumers who exhibit these signs after coming into contact with this product should consult their healthcare provider.
The recall was initiated after samples of the product were collected on March 4, 2025, and tested by the Washington State Department of Agriculture. The product tested positive for Salmonella.
No illnesses have been reported to date.
Consumers who have purchased this product are urged to return it to the place of purchase or dispose of the food in a manner that prevents access by children, pets, and wildlife. Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers.
