Revival Animal Health of Orange City, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling Breeder’s Edge® and Shelter’s Choice® Feline Milk Replacers due to low levels of potassium, copper, folic acid, choline, and/or pyridoxine (vitamin B6).
According to the company announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), kittens, especially neonates, are particularly vulnerable to nutrient deficiencies because of their rapid growth, immature organ systems, and dependence on milk as their source of nutrients.
Affected Products
The recalled products were sold nationwide online and in retail pet stores. Products are packaged in multiple sizes of stand-up resealable bags and 12 oz jars.

Health Risk Information
According to the FDA announcement, kittens fed milk replacer deficient in copper, potassium, vitamin B6, folic acid, and choline may face multiple health risks, including anemia, neurological dysfunction, liver failure, kidney damage, skeletal diseases, and cardiac compromise.
Because young kittens grow rapidly, clinical signs may appear within days to a few weeks. The FDA-posted announcement states that these deficiencies can be fatal or cause permanent organ damage if not recognized in time.
Consumers whose kittens have consumed any of the recalled products and are showing clinical signs should contact their veterinarian.
Illness and Complaint Information
No illnesses resulting from use of these products have been confirmed. Revival Animal Health is investigating nine complaints of potential gastrointestinal and bone development issues.
According to the announcement, Revival received third-party test results suggesting a possible nutrient deficiency in one lot of a Feline Milk Replacer product and conducted confirmatory testing on multiple lots. The results were analyzed by an independent animal nutritionist on August 12, 2026, and led to the voluntary recall due to third-party manufacturing inconsistencies resulting in low levels of potassium, copper, folic acid, choline and/or pyridoxine (vitamin B6).
Revival Animal Health has discontinued its relationship with the contracted manufacturer.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers who purchased the recalled products should stop feeding them immediately and contact Revival Animal Health to return the products for a full refund.
