Revival Animal Health, LLC of Orange City, Iowa, is voluntarily recalling certain Breeder’s Edge® Foster Care® Canine Milk Replacers and Shelter’s Choice® Canine Milk Replacers due to variable levels of Vitamin D, resulting in both low and elevated levels in some products.
According to the company announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may experience adverse health effects.
Product Included in the Recall
The recall includes multiple sizes of the following products:
- Breeder’s Edge® Foster Care® Canine Milk Replacer
- Shelter’s Choice® Canine Milk Replacer
Products were sold in various package sizes, including resealable bags and canisters.

The affected products were distributed nationwide through online and retail pet supply channels.
Health Risk Information
Dogs ingesting elevated levels of Vitamin D may develop symptoms such as vomiting, loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, excessive drooling, and weight loss.
In severe cases, elevated Vitamin D levels can lead to serious health complications, including kidney dysfunction.
Consumers whose dogs have consumed the affected products and are exhibiting these symptoms should contact their veterinarian.
Two complaints of illness have been reported to date.

Consumers who have purchased the affected products should stop feeding them immediately and contact the company to arrange a return and refund.
