UPDATE 8/19/2026: The FDA announcement has been updated to clarify that the three illnesses reported in association with this recall occurred in dogs. No human illnesses have been reported to date.
Oma’s Pride of Avon, Connecticut, is voluntarily recalling one lot of Woof Complete Canine Chicken Recipe, 6 lb bag, because the product is contaminated with Salmonella.
According to the FDA announcement, the recall was initiated after the FDA received a consumer complaint and collected and analyzed a product sample, which tested positive for Salmonella. Oma’s Pride is continuing its investigation to determine the source and root cause of the contamination.
Three illnesses have been reported to date in association with the complaint.
Affected Product
The recalled product is frozen raw dog food sold in a 6 lb gusseted stand-up pouch containing 12 individually wrapped, 8 oz vacuum-sealed portions.

The recalled lot was distributed in Arizona, California, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, New Jersey, Nevada, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia to retail and wholesale accounts and directly to consumers through online, direct-to-consumer orders. The product was shipped frozen.
No other Oma’s Pride products, sizes, or lots are affected.
Health Risks
Salmonella can affect animals that eat contaminated products and can also pose a risk to people who handle contaminated pet products, particularly if they do not thoroughly wash their hands after contact with the product or surfaces exposed to it.
Pets with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and experience diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets may have decreased appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected pets that otherwise appear healthy can be carriers and infect other animals or humans.
People infected with Salmonella may experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, abdominal cramping, and fever. The FDA announcement notes that Salmonella can also result in additional ailments, including arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, muscle pain, eye irritation, and urinary tract symptoms.
According to the 8/19/2026 updated FDA announcement, three illnesses in dogs have been reported to date in association with the complaint. No human illnesses have been reported.
What Consumers Should Do
Consumers who purchased the affected lot should:
- Stop feeding the product immediately and safely dispose of it.
- Contact Oma’s Pride for a refund.
- Do not sell or donate the recalled product.
- Wash and sanitize pet food bowls, cups, and storage containers.
- Wash and sanitize hands after handling the recalled food or any utensils that have come into contact with it.
Consumers whose pets have eaten the recalled product and are showing symptoms should contact their veterinarian. People experiencing symptoms after contact with the product should contact their healthcare provider.
