Raw Bistro Recalls Frozen Grass-Fed Beef Dog Food Due to Salmonella Risk

On October 9, 2025, Raw Bistro Pet Fare, based in Cannon Falls, MN, issued a voluntary recall of two frozen raw dog food products due to the potential risk of Salmonella contamination.

The affected products were distributed direct-to-consumer and to select distributors between September 1 and September 17, 2025, in the following states:

  • California
  • Colorado
  • Illinois
  • Minnesota

Products are sold frozen in sealed packaging, with the lot number and best-by date printed near the bottom of the back of each bag or box.

  • 3 lb bags (UPC 858833002247)
  • 18 lb bulk cases (UPC 858833002629)

Risks to Humans and Pets

Contaminated products may cause serious health risks to both pets and people.

Humans handling the product can become infected with Salmonella if their hands or surfaces aren’t properly washed. 

Symptoms may include:

  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea (which may be bloody), and fever
  • In rare cases: arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, or urinary tract symptoms

In pets, symptoms of Salmonella infection include:

  • Lethargy, fever, vomiting, and diarrhea (which may be bloody)
  • Some pets may show decreased appetite or abdominal pain
  • Even asymptomatic pets can shed the bacteria and infect others

No human or pet illnesses related to this recall have been reported as of the FDA announcement.

What to Do If You Have the Product

If you have the recalled Raw Bistro dog food:

  • Do not feed it to pets or any other animals
  • Do not sell or donate the recalled product
  • Dispose of it in a way that prevents access by children, pets, or wildlife
  • Clean and sanitize all bowls, scoops, utensils, containers, and surfaces that may have come into contact with the product
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the product or any contaminated surfaces
