On October 3, 2025, Best Buy Bones, Inc. of Mount Morris, MI, issued a voluntary recall of four lots of Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites (1-pound bags) due to the potential risk of Salmonella contamination.

🔗 FDA Recall Notice – Nature’s Own Pet Chews
The affected products were distributed out of Minnesota and sold through retail stores in Wisconsin after September 23, 2025.
Products are sold in resealable 16 oz. plastic pouches, approximately 11” high × 9.5” wide, with a 3.5” gusseted bottom.
The Best-by Date of September 2027 is printed on a tag located at the bottom of the pouch.

Risks to Humans and Pets
Contaminated pet treats pose serious health risks to both animals and humans.
For humans, Salmonella can cause:
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps, diarrhea (sometimes bloody), and fever
- In rare cases, more serious illnesses such as arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, or urinary tract issues
For pets, Salmonella exposure may cause:
- Lethargy, vomiting, fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), or decreased appetite
- Even asymptomatic pets can shed the bacteria and infect others
No illnesses related to this recall have been reported in pets or humans to date.
What to Do If You Have the Product
If you purchased Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites after September 23, 2025:
- Do not feed the product to pets or any other animals
- Do not sell or donate the recalled product
- Dispose of the food in a secure container where children, pets, and wildlife cannot access it
- Wash and sanitize pet bowls, scoops, storage containers, hands, and surfaces after handling
