Foodynamics Recalls Freeze-Dried Pet Treats from Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, and Kanu Pets Due to Salmonella Risk

On October 9, 2025, Foodynamics, based in Wales, WI, issued a voluntary recall of multiple freeze-dried pet treats sold under the Raw Dog Barkery, BellePepper Cats, and Kanu Pets brands due to potential contamination with Salmonella.

The affected products were distributed via UPS from Wisconsin to retailers and consumers in Wisconsin, New York, and Florida. 

A total of seven packages were involved.

Products Included in the Recall

Raw Dog Barkery (Dogs & Cats)

Distributed in WI through SimplyDried Treats, Magpies Gourmet Dog Treats, and What’s In the Bowl Delafield.
Use By date (also the Lot #) is printed on a sticker on the back label.

Risks to Humans and Pets

Contaminated products can cause serious illness in both humans and animals.

Humans may experience:

  • Nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramping, diarrhea (including bloody diarrhea), and fever 
  • In rare cases: arterial infections, endocarditis, arthritis, or urinary tract symptoms 

Pets may exhibit:

  • Lethargy, vomiting, fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), decreased appetite, or abdominal pain 
  • Even asymptomatic pets can shed the bacteria and infect others 

No illnesses in humans or pets have been reported to date.

What to Do If You Have the Product

If you purchased any of the recalled products listed above:

  • Do not feed the product to pets or any animals 
  • Do not sell or donate the product 
  • Dispose of it in a secure manner where pets, children, or wildlife cannot access it 
  • Wash and sanitize bowls, scoops, utensils, containers, and all surfaces that came into contact with the product 
  • Wash your hands thoroughly after handling the product or any contaminated items 

Consumers can return the recalled product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
