Go Raw, LLC of Cottonwood Heights, Utah, is voluntarily recalling a single lot of Quest Cat Food Chicken Recipe Freeze Dried Nuggets due to low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).

According to the company announcement posted by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled product may contain insufficient levels of thiamine. Thiamine is essential for cats, and prolonged deficiency can result in serious health issues.

Health Risk Information

Cats fed diets low in thiamine over time may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency. Early signs may include decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, failure to grow, and weight loss.

In advanced cases, neurological symptoms may develop, including ventroflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, mental dullness, vision changes, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures.

Pet owners are advised to contact their veterinarian immediately if their cat is displaying any of these symptoms. When treated promptly, thiamine deficiency is typically reversible.

To date, the company has received one confirmed report of illness associated with the recalled product. The affected cat was treated by a veterinarian and has recovered.
